Christina Stohn is a documentary photographer who is based in Freiburg, in southwest Germany. She undertook formal training as a commercial photographer at Gieske Studios in Pforzheim, Germany for three years. Following that, she specialised in interior and still life photography, gaining several years of experience. In 2014 she graduated from the University of Westminster in London with a BA in Photography (First Class Honours). She also completed an MA in Integrated Design (Distinction) which encompassed both photography and book design at the University of the Arts Bremen in 2018.
As a freelance photographer, she divides her time between commissioned work and self-initiated projects. Her personal portfolio is grounded in research and focuses on themes of collective identity, capturing both urban and rural environments and the individuals within them. She has exhibited internationally throughout Europe, Asia and in the US. Her book Höllental und Himmelreich (2020) and the zine Gluuw, Leewde, Hööb (2022) have both been published by Another Place Press. She was invited as a Visiting Professor on two occasions to Indiana University in Bloomington, US. There, she designed and taught two three-credit-hour courses to undergraduate students: Photographing Home (2023) and Photographing Identity (2024). -
